Man arrested for unruly behaviour at LAA

The Land Administration Authority (LAA) appeals to all members of the public seeking services at the Authority to refrain from unbecoming and sometimes behavior.

This comes after last week incident where a member of the public got arrested and was charged with violent conduct, harassment and resisting arrest at the LAA premises. A male of about mid- 30s years had come to seek details of certain plot when he turned violent when our staff member assisting him requested his identification and other documents relating to his interest on the plot. The situation got to a point where a police officer based at LAA intervened and arrested him after several attempts to calm him down failed.

The male was later charged and found guilty and sentenced to period of almost a month in jail or pay a fine.

Several incidents of unruly behaviour by customers had been recorded and traced for some time until the LAA felt it was necessary to protect the well being and safety of staff members on duty. The LAA entrance security has also been fitted with scanners, lockers where customers can leave weapons and dangerous and harmful objects when entering the Authority offices. A customer can always collect their items after receiving a service as the item will be safely locked up in the locker.

The Authority therefore appeals for a better, humane and professional conduct by members of the public at all times when coming for service at Authority.
